Nintendo have revealed some key details as to what we can expect when the Nintendo Switch Online service launches later this year in September. It will be a paid service that gives players access to online play in the compatible games, a selection of NES games, extra features for the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app, and more.

Online Play will allow players to battle it out our co-operate with others around the world in games such as Splatoon 2, ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Tennis Aces, and Sushi Strike: The Way of Sushido.


The service is going to launch with 20 NES games, with more being added regularly. Launch titles include:-

  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Donkey Kong
  • Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Balloon Fight
  • Ice Climber
  • Dr. Mario
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Super Mario Bros. 3

You will be able to save your date online for easy access thanks to the Save Data Cloud Backup feature. More details about this will be available before the service launches.

The pricing plans are as follows:-

  • 1 Month: $3.99 USD
  • 3 Months: $7.99 USD
  • 12 Months: $19.99 USD
  • 12 Month Family Membership: $34.99 USD

The family membership will allow a Nintendo Account holder to invite up to seven others to join a family group; all members of the group will have access to Nintendo Switch Online.
