Nintendo just announced Nintendo Labo for the Nintendo Switch console. It’s described as a new line of interactive built-and-play experiences that will combine DIY creations with the ‘magic’ of Nintendo Switch.
Think of it almost as augmented reality but better described as augmented gaming. Buy whichever set, build the cardboard structures that come with those sets via instructions on the Switch screen, insert your console and joy-con wherever you are instructed to and just play.
Nintendo Labo will release on April 20th, 2018 in the US and April 27th, 2018 in the UK for Nintendo Switch. Two packs will be available at launch, the Toy-Con 01 Variety Kit and the Toy-Con 02 Robot Kit. The former will feature a whole host of different games to interactive with from a fishing game, racing game and more. The Robot Kit allows gamers to become a robot, sort of and smash their way to victory, you might want some free space to move around for that one.
There will also be a Nintendo Labo Customization Set that will include stencil sheets, sticker sheets and tape rolls to allow players to customise their creations further.
